Age Co is 100% owned by Age UK. We were set up in order to fund the work of the charity. We give our profits to Age UK every year, and in the last 5 years we’ve donated more than £12m to Age UK.

Age UK is the largest charity in the UK dedicated to supporting older people. Age UK believes every older person should be included and valued. They work locally, nationally and internationally to make that happen. Through campaigning, local support, advice and friendship, they're changing the way we age.

Older people in the UK experience several significant challenges:

1.9 million older people in the UK are living in poverty
Nearly a million older people in the UK are often lonely
2 million aren't getting the care they need to live with dignity

What does Age UK do to change how we age?

Expert Advice

Age UK's specialist, impartial advice changes how older people feel when they face a challenging issue – whether it’s care, money, health or housing. A call to the free, confidential Age UK Advice Line, a visit to the website, or a face-to-face appointment at a local Age UK can help change older people’s worries into answers.

In 2023/2024:

The Age UK Advice Line answered 200,837 enquiries

Age UK helped people with 254,836 benefit checks

Telephone Friendship

Age UK offers free telephone friendship services so older people can enjoy chatting with someone over the phone, all from the comfort of their own home. Whether it’s a regular call or just someone to talk to when the need strikes, Age UK is here to help.

In 2023/24:

Age UK's Telephone Friendship Service reached its highest ever number of friendship matches with 4,548 matches

Age UK provided over 5.1 million minutes of friendship support to older people across the UK

Campaigning

As an expert voice on ageing, Age UK is changing the way older people are treated and represented in society through research and campaigning. Working with local, national and international policymakers, Age UK challenges inequalities and pushes for the changes that’ll improve older people’s lives.

In 2023/24:

12.6 million people benefitted from the Government listening to Age UK's calls to protect the pension triple lock

Age UK brought 90 MPs together with older people and local Age UKs so that they could hear about older people's experiences of the NHS and social care
